Yes. One of the primary advantages of longspan shelving is its modular flexibility. As your inventory requirements change, you can easily add expansion bays (Add-on Bays), adjust individual shelf heights up or down along the vertical frames, or introduce new shelf materials to fit your stock profiles without needing a complete storage overhaul.

Longspan shelving and pallet racking are both storage systems, but they differ significantly in design and intended use.

Longspan Shelving is designed strictly for manual hand-loading and picking of boxed goods, tools, and parts bins.

Pallet racking is a much heavier structural system engineered specifically to hold fully loaded wooden pallets handled by forklifts.

The exact safe load limit varies depending on your selected beam length, depth, and chosen shelf material.

• Per Shelf Level: Individual shelf levels can support a UDL (Uniformly Distributed Load) ranging between 90kg and 450kg. Shorter beam profiles generally offer higher weight capacities.
• Per Standalone Bay: A single standalone starter bay can support a maximum total overall capacity of 1,800kg. This capacity limits scale up significantly when interlocking Add-on Bays are connected to form a continuous shelving run.

We stock three main types; particle board, galvanised panel and wire mesh decks.

Particle board – The most widely used type of shelf materials. Easy to install, solid surface and cost-effective.

Galvanised Panel – Highly durable, corrosion resistance and aesthetically pleasing minimal design.

Mesh Decks – Great for air flow and visibility, whilst still maintaining a solid surface preventing goods from falling through the shelves.

It’s recommended if the longspan shelving is being used in a commercial workplace, distribution center, or industrial retail space, displaying official Safe Work Load Signs is a critical workplace safety requirement. These signs must be clearly visible on the end frames to state the maximum safe weight capacity per level and per bay, ensuring your team does not overload the system during inventory restocking.

Yes. Because our longspan system is completely modular, you can use the exact same frames and step beams to configure a 2-Tier or 4-Tier Longspan Workbench. By setting your horizontal beams at standard working heights, you can integrate heavy-duty particle board or stainless steel benchtops to create a rugged, industrial picking or assembly station.

Yes, assembly is straightforward and designed as a simple DIY process. For your convenience, our vertical upright frames come pre-assembled, meaning you do not have to bolt the structural bracing together on-site.

The installation process requires completely zero tools and can be completed by standing the pre-assembled frames upright, clipping the horizontal step beams into place, and dropping in your chosen shelf insert material. While smaller bays can be set up by a single person, we recommend a two-person assembly for safety and efficiency when handling taller frames or wider beam lengths.
