Double deep systems require a specialized double deep reach forklift truck equipped with pantograph or telescopic forks to reach the second pallet. Because stock is retrieved perpendicular to the aisle, working aisle widths typically range between 3.0m and 3.5m (depending on your specific forklift model).

Double Deep Racking operates on the FILO (First In, Last Out) inventory principle. It stores two pallets deep per row, meaning 50% of your product is immediately accessible from the aisle. To access the rear pallet, the front pallet must be removed first. This setup effectively doubles your storage capacity in the same footprint compared to standard selective racking, offering a highly efficient, high-density racking solution at a relatively low investment cost compared to drive-in or automated systems.
