Based on our experience in Melbourne and Brisbane, where we outgrew our initial sites within the first five years of operation, we took a more strategic and forward-looking approach when planning our expansion into the Sydney market. Rather than starting small and relocating later, we made the decision to invest in a facility that could accommodate our long-term growth from day one. This led us to secure a substantial 3,112 sqm warehouse and office space at 40 Lyn Parade, Prestons, in Sydney’s south-west industrial hub. The site not only provides ample room for warehousing, distribution, and showroom capabilities, but also positions us well to service customers across Greater Sydney with improved stock availability, faster lead times, and a stronger local presence.

Over the years, our business has undergone several name changes, each one reflecting a new chapter in our growth, evolving product range, and expanding industry focus. As our capabilities broadened and our national footprint expanded, it became clear that we needed a name that better represented our comprehensive offering and long-term vision. In 2017, we officially rebranded as Global Industrial Pty Ltd – a name that not only captures the scale and versatility of our operations but also aligns with our commitment to supplying high-quality industrial solutions to customers across Australia.

Our journey in sunny Queensland began with a modest yet efficient 1,120 sqm freestanding office and warehouse located on a shared hardstand in Acacia Ridge. This facility served as our launchpad into the Brisbane market, allowing us to establish strong customer relationships and build brand recognition across the region. As local demand steadily increased, it became clear that more space and resources were needed. In early 2018, we made the strategic decision to relocate to a larger 2,440 sqm site in Archerfield, effectively doubling our operational footprint and enabling greater stockholding and faster turnaround times. By 2023, continued growth and an expanding product range once again pushed us beyond our existing capacity. In response, we transitioned into a new, purpose-built 4,000 sqm warehouse and office in Oxley—a major milestone in our Queensland operations.

Our interstate expansion journey began in Melbourne, marking a significant milestone for Global Industrial as we established our first branch on the eastern seaboard in 2010. We launched operations from a modest yet functional 1,584 sqm office and warehouse in Tullamarine, strategically positioned near key freight routes and Melbourne Airport. This initial site provided a strong foundation to introduce our products and services to the Victorian market and build a loyal customer base. As demand for our solutions rapidly increased, it became clear that a larger facility was needed to meet growing expectations. In 2013, we relocated to a 2,502 sqm warehouse in Derrimut, a then-emerging industrial precinct in Melbourne’s western suburbs that offered room for expansion and improved logistics access. Just four years later, continued business growth prompted another move, this time to a purpose-built facility in Deer Park in 2017. This custom-designed site remains our Melbourne headquarters. It stands as a testament to our long-term commitment to the Victorian market and our ability to scale in response to customer needs.

A major milestone was reached in 2006 when the original owner, alongside a tight-knit team of dedicated employees, some of whom are still proudly working at Global today, constructed the company’s first official 1,600sqm warehouse on Felspar Street in Welshpool. This move marked a significant shift from operating on open-acreage lots with makeshift sheds to establish a permanent, purpose-built facility. It was a turning point that reflected the company’s growing reputation and commitment to professionalism, efficiency, and customer service. In 2012, the company took another bold step forward by relocating to a 4,500sqm office and warehouse facility in Osborne Park, Western Australia. This move not only provided the space to support a growing inventory and workforce but also positioned the business for continued growth in a more central, accessible location.

The company was founded in 1976 in Perth, Australia, initially dealing in scrap metal, second-hand racking, and second-hand machinery. By the late 1990s, it had refined its focus to specialise in mostly second-hand racking and machinery. During this period operations were based in Welshpool, Perth—primarily large, undeveloped lots with sand and grass surfaces and small sheds.
