Built for the Outdoors
- Pre-Galvanised Steel Frames: All APEX frames feature a corrosion-resistant finish, ideal for exposed environments and harsh weather conditions.
- Hot-Dipped Galvanised Beams, Footplates & accessories: Designed for maximum corrosion resistance, ideal for outdoor or high-moisture environments
- Wind Rated: Every outdoor racking setup includes wind load calculations tailored to your specific location and surroundings. These ratings ensure structural integrity under varying wind conditions across different regions.
- Seismic Hazard Factor: In line with AS 4084 2023 requirements, the seismic hazard factor must be included in all safe working load calculations. This is especially important for outdoor installations in regions with higher seismic activity.
Installation and Safety
- Anchoring and Bracing: Outdoor racking must be securely anchored to a suitable concrete slab and may require additional bracing to resist wind and seismic forces.
- Ground Levels: Sloped surfaces are often more prominent outdoors to allow for water drainage, so each site should be carefully assessed to ensure the racking can be properly anchored and remains structurally stable on uneven ground.
- Stable Ground Surface: Racking must be installed on a solid, level concrete slab designed to support the load and ensure long-term structural stability. In some cases, a concrete slab or strip footings are required.
The following surfaces are not suitable;
- Unreinforced concrete – lacks the structural strength to support anchored racking under load
- Asphalt or bitumen – too soft and flexible, especially under heavy point loads
- Compacted gravel or dirt – unstable and unable to hold anchor bolts securely
- Pavers or tiles – not designed to bear concentrated loads or provide reliable anchoring
- Uneven or heavily sloped surfaces – create instability and make correct installation difficult
Cracked or damaged concrete – may indicate compromised structural integrity and must be assessed before use

HOT DIPPED GALVANISED (HDG) BEAMS
APEX hot-dipped galvanised beams are made from a rectangular hollow section (RHS) and are typically used for outdoor applications. The hot-dipped galvanised surface treatment makes them more resistant to rusting.
