Looking to maximise the storage capacity of your warehouse? If your workshop has lengthy or tall products that can stand vertically, A-frame vertical racking may be just the ticket. Ranging from 2.4m to 6.1m high approx, Global vertical racking is ideal for timber, siding, conduit, aluminium channelling, timber trims and mouldings. A-frame vertical storage racking is a great addition to warehouses or for retail picking; racks are economical, space-saving and can be installed quickly.

Benefits of vertical storage racking

The simplicity of A-frame vertical racking is one of its key benefits: there’s next-to-nothing that can break, provided you choose the right rack components. We stock two types of dividing arms: 600mm long non-load-bearing vertical dividers, and 700mm long hose/reel hangers designed to take up to 60kgs UDL per hanger. Depending on your situation, you can choose to include as many or as few dividers as you require.

Vertical racking offers outstanding stock visibility, making the storage of your goods more orderly saving you time and money.  A-frame vertical racks are available in single-sided and double-sided configurations, to be used against a wall or in an aisle, respectively.

Quality comes first: Global’s Pallet Racking fully complies with Australian racking code AS 4084-2012

Vertical storage rack for plumbers

Plumbers know the hassle of storing pipes, capped copper pipes that are under a few metres. A-frame vertical storage racks will work well by storing these upright. Pressurised plastic water pipes need to be supported so that they cannot bend or become deformed in storage or transit. Vertical racking may not be the right solution for such materials; instead, look at cantilever racking.

Vertical storage racking for timber

If you have limited storage space, one of the best options is to store lumber vertically. Lumber stored vertically should be supported and elevated off the ground to prevent water damage. Depending on the flexibility of the timber, it may Ideally it will need to be supported at the top and bottom to prevent bowing and reducing or a safety risk of it tilting forward and falling. Also try looking into cantilever racking, as this is another great alternative to storing timber.

The flexibility of vertical storage racking also means that it can be repurposed for any industry that uses long materials. For safety reasons, you may need tie-down octopus straps or self-tightening straps to prevent forward falls.

Vertical racking vs cantilever racking – which do I need?

Cantilever racking is designed to hold lengthy items horizontally rather than upright. One benefit of cantilever racking over vertical racking is that it works with awkwardly shaped and oversized objects, including being almost infinitely extendable for extremely long items. If your items have some degree of flexibility, such as thinner PVC pipes or conduit, cantilever racking may present the better option.

A key difference with many cantilever racking units is they have a swing-arm that is strongest with downward pressure, not built with sideways forces in mind.

Setting up vertical storage warehouse racking

The simple design of Global vertical racking makes assembly a breeze. You need at least two A-frame uprights to build your vertical rack, as well as a floor guard to prevent slippage. Six cross-bars attach to the front and rear of the vertical rack sections with inbuilt shelf support pins. Height and arm-spacing are quickly adjustable to fit your needs. Racking is also modular to be readily expanded where required.
