Additional Information
Built tough from 1.5mm gauge steel, our Steel Under Tray Toolboxes are the ideal storage solution for fleet vehicles and trade utes that demand reliability, security, and space efficiency. Designed specifically for under tray mounting, these toolboxes make smart use of otherwise wasted space, keeping tools and gear secure without cluttering your tray’s load area.
These toolboxes offer generous internal storage with a compact external profile, ideal for carrying essential gear across multiple job sites. The powder-coated steel construction ensures long-lasting durability, while a weather-resistant rubber seal keeps dust and water out in all conditions.
Each box is fitted with a premium whale tail compression handle, ergonomically designed for daily use. The compression feature delivers a tighter seal, and each handle is padlock compatible for added tool security (padlock not included).
Available in black or white gloss finishes and left or right-of-wheel mounting options, they integrate seamlessly for a clean, professional look. Whether you’re managing a single ute or an entire fleet, these toolboxes are built to perform on and off the job.
Fitment options are based on wheel position, not vehicle side. For example:
-
Left of wheel = driver’s side rear or passenger side against cab
-
Right of wheel = driver’s side against cab or passenger side rear
Aluminium toolboxes for utes are lightweight, corrosion-resistant and perfect for outdoor conditions. They offer excellent durability without adding excessive weight to your ute, making them a great option for tradespeople who need to stay under vehicle payload limits, particularly in states like Queensland and New South Wales, where these limits are more strictly enforced.
If you’re regularly carrying heavy gear or working in areas where compliance is essential, aluminium helps you maximise your load without risking overcapacity. It’s also rust-resistant, which makes it perfect for year-round use in all weather conditions.
Steel toolboxes, on the other hand, are heavier but stronger, providing superior protection for your tools. They’re better suited to tough environments like construction sites or remote worksites, where gear protection is critical and the added weight isn’t an issue.
If you’re choosing between the two, it comes down to how you use your ute:
- Aluminium: Lightweight, rust-resistant, better for staying under payload limits
- Steel: Stronger, impact-resistant, ideal for heavy-duty or high-risk work zones
